OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Help

Define atmospherics, terrain and daylight savings data for the site

  1. Select the Site object on the Project Tree, and right click.

    A pop-up menu appears.

  2. Select Properties from the pop-up menu.

The Properties For: Site dialog box opens.

  3. Under the Atmospherics/Climate heading, change the Clarity property value from Urban by selecting Clear from the available drop-down list.

This sets the level of atmospheric clarity for the site. For calculations involving solar gains, solar radiation intensity is computed using atmospheric turbidity. The specified atmospheric clarity for the site will fix the sky turbidity, which is characterized by the amount of cloudiness due to particles suspended in the air.

  4. Under the Terrain heading, change the Wind shielding property value from Countryside by selecting City from the available drop-down list.

Wind shielding affects the wind pressure coefficients which are used for thermal simulations.

  5. Under the Daylight saving heading, check the Use daylight saving option and enter a Start day and an End day using the available pop up calendars.

Using daylight saving will introduce a time difference between actual time (e.g. occupancy times) and solar time.
